- Phase 1 and Baseline Studies which involve Historical Document Review, Regulatory Searches, Site Inspections
- Environmental Due Diligence for business transactions including Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments

Example projects include:
- Alice Griffith Redevelopment in San Francisco’s Bay View Hunter's Point with PCB, heavy metal soil contamination and methane issues. Services include Phase I assessments for 4 blocks undergoing redevelopment, soil-gas testing, soil and groundwater testing, and lead-based paint and radon testing. The residential redevelopment projects for each block were successfully completed with no further action determinations issued by the local lead agency.
- Carroll Avenue Redevelopment, a Hunter’s Point industrial site slated for redevelopment with asbestos, metals and hydrocarbons soil contamination and soil vapor intrusion issues. SCA prepared a Phase I ESA for the site, designed and implemented a Phase 2 ESA, provided construction mitigation monitoring and oversaw removal of creosote- and arsenic-impacted timbers and soils during construction. The mixed-use commercial and residential project was successfully completed, and the local oversight agency issued a no further action determination for the project.
